To bring glory to God by submitting all we say and do to live out the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-39) and engage in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).

Our History
Saint Matthew Baptist Church was organized in May of 1978 by Reverend Nathaniel Bragg. It began in the home of Reverend and Sister Alma Bragg with thirteen members. We acquired our first building in June of that year and remained at that location until 1981. We moved several times until purchasing our present location at 125 McClellan Street in 1996. Reverend Bragg presided over the church until retiring in 1999. In 2000, Reverend Todd Battle became the Pastor and remained until 2007. On August 18th of 2009, Reverend Vic Alister Russell was elected Pastor and is currently shepherding the faithful flock of Saint Matthew Baptist.
