Downtown Vacaville enriches our community by supporting the vibrant economic activity of over 450 businesses across various industries and hosting community-centric local events. We are dedicated to preserving our rich history while driving economic growth and revitalization to ensure a balanced focus on preservation-based development and modern enhancements.

Phoenix Rising 🐦🔥
Rising above challenges with strength and hope, Phoenix Rising is a stunning mural by local artist Pete Fala, located on the Georgia Duke Center facing the parking lot at Andrews Park.
This mural was the result of months of planning, sketches, city meetings, and approvals before it came to life.
As Pete shared about the project:
"It was an honor and blessing to do this piece for the community."
Thank you to Pete Fala, the Vacaville Art Gallery, and the City of Vacaville for adding another beautiful piece of public art for everyone to enjoy.
The next time you`re at Andrews Park, take a walk over to the Georgia Duke Center and experience Phoenix Rising in person. It`s hard to miss, and even harder to forget.

A look back at Vacaville in 1900, when George P. Akerly & Co. opened for business at the corner of Main and Davis Streets.
According to this Vacaville Reporter “Yesteryear in Vacaville” feature, the business had a pretty humble beginning, sales on its very first day totaled just 95 cents!
From there, Akerly & Co. grew to become Vacaville’s largest store, and owner George Akerly became a prominent figure in the community and its civic affairs.
Even more interesting, the building shown here was still standing at Main and Davis when this newspaper feature was published decades later.
Photos like this are such a great reminder that the streets we walk through Downtown Vacaville today have been home to generations of local businesses, entrepreneurs, and community members.
