Supporting Downtown Small Businesses While Preserving Our Rich History
We champion local businesses by providing resources and opportunities that stimulate economic activity. From small shops to large enterprises, our BID creates a supportive environment that encourages growth and innovation.
Hosting a variety of community-centric events, we bring people together to celebrate the spirit of Vacaville. These events not only enhance the local cultural scene but also drive foot traffic and engagement within our downtown area.
Balancing the preservation of our rich history with the need for modern enhancements, our BID works to maintain the historic charm of Downtown Vacaville while implementing thoughtful improvements that drive progress and revitalization.
The Downtown Vacaville Business Improvement District (BID) is following the Main Street America approach to downtown revitalization. Downtown Vacaville enriches our community by supporting the vibrant economic activity of over 450 businesses across various industries and hosting community-centric local events. We are dedicated to preserving our rich history while driving economic growth and revitalization to ensure a balanced focus on preservation-based development and modern enhancements.
Through our dedicated efforts, the Downtown Vacaville BID ensures a vibrant, resilient, and inclusive downtown that reflects both our storied past and our ambitious future
In 1913, a group of masked men attempted to rob the Bank of Vacaville in Downtown Vacaville, and their plan was anything but quiet.
While one man stood guard outside Bentley’s Café, the others broke into the neighboring bank. When café employee Al Wilson reached for the telephone, the gunman fired through the window, narrowly missing his head.
Then came four or five explosions.
The blasts forced open the bank’s double vault doors and toppled its massive safe. There was just one problem: it landed face-down, trapping nearly $30,000 inside.
Unable to reach the money, the robbers abandoned the job without taking a cent, and somehow overlooked approximately $4,000 in postage stamps on their way out.
After cutting communication wires, they stole local resident W.H. Buck’s automobile. It was later discovered near Woodland, but the robbers were gone.
Their carefully planned heist was ultimately foiled by one very heavy safe landing on the wrong side.

Take a stroll down Trianon Way and you’ll find this colorful desert oasis tucked behind the tax office on Parker Street. 🌵🌼
Painted by local artist Leslie Molera in 2021, this mural transforms the space with larger-than-life cacti, desert blooms, and that gorgeous turquoise door that feels like it was made to be part of the artwork.
It’s another one of those hidden pieces of Downtown Vacaville you might miss if you don’t know where to look.
