⛽ A gallon of regular gasoline at this Vacaville Wilshire station was advertised for just 26.9¢.
Back then, a trip to the gas station was a little different. An attendant would often fill your tank, wash your windshield, check your oil, and sometimes even your tire pressure, all with a smile.
To put those prices in perspective: $1 bought nearly 4 gallons of gas. $10 bought about 37 gallons.
Today, $10 doesn`t even buy 2 gallons in California.

This photo takes us back to Downtown Vacaville around 1971, when the Vacaville Theatre marquee featured *Doctors` Wives* and *Hammerhead*. The streets were filled with cars that weren`t classics yet, they were simply what everyone drove. 🚗
A trip downtown meant shopping, catching a movie, and running into friends along Main Street.
The best part? You can still do most of that today. While the movie theater may be gone and the cars have changed, Downtown Vacaville is still a place to shop, grab a bite, meet up with friends, and make new memories.
