The Downtown Vacaville Business Improvement District (BID) is following the Main Street America approach to downtown revitalization. Downtown Vacaville enriches our community by supporting the vibrant economic activity of over 450 businesses across various industries and hosting community-centric local events. We are dedicated to preserving our rich history while driving economic growth and revitalization to ensure a balanced focus on preservation-based development and modern enhancements.
Through our dedicated efforts, the Downtown Vacaville BID ensures a vibrant, resilient, and inclusive downtown that reflects both our storied past and our ambitious future
If these walls could talk, they’d tell the story of Vacaville in 1891 when this building served as the town’s jail, fire department, and town hall all in one.
Prisoners were held just steps away from where city leaders met and firefighters stood ready to respond.
The bell tower once rang out across town, signaling emergencies and bringing the community together.
Over time, as Vacaville grew, this building shifted from function to history, but never lost its presence.
Today, it stands as a rare piece of the past, reminding us just how far downtown has come.

Before the pavement, this Merchant Street building was already part of Vacaville’s story.
It’s believed to have once been the Hotel Stoney, one of the last small hotels in town.
Later, many remember it as Vasquez Antiques.
Today, it’s home to Moto Xotica.
Same building. Different eras. Still standing.
