Here’s a piece of Vacaville history with quite the ending.
This small wooden jail once stood along the banks of Ulatis Creek in what is now Andrews Park. Vacaville residents used the little jail until February 1906, when “nocturnal visitors” rolled the entire building into the creek!
With Vacaville suddenly without a way to incarcerate lawbreakers, plans for a new Town Hall moved forward. The new building on East Main Street was completed in 1907 and served Vacaville for decades.
Now that’s a Throwback Thursday. 👀

A Look Back at Downtown Vacaville
Community Presbyterian Church once stood at the corner of Main and Parker Streets in Downtown Vacaville.
The congregation’s history in Vacaville dates back to 1873, with the church at Main and Parker serving the community for more than 70 years. As Vacaville grew, the congregation relocated to Hemlock Street, holding its final service at the downtown church on May 27, 1962.
The original church building is no longer standing today.
